      LOL! Especially if no one knows it’s a box wine. This project has become a big gift item and I have made several now. I have also started making them out of cedar fence boards for next to nothing and the turn out even better. Also you can use some of those frozen cooler packs on the sides of a white wine and serve chilled. Thanks so much for watching.

    I'm stocking up on cedar pickets this coming fall/winter season while they're dirt cheap so I can go wild next spring building things for my new backyard, and as gifts for family members. There are so many things you can build for a little bit of nothing out of those things! I wish I had known this sooner. I don't have the super fancy tools, but the ones I do have can usually get the job done with a little bit more elbow grease. Thanks for this, it's going at the top of my list!

      You are so right. Cedar is my new go to material. I love how it holds up, how it looks and even how it smells. Gene, thank you for this Video. I'm curious why you offset the 1x6 Decking about 1" from the edge of the frame perimeter?

    • @DIYGene
      @DIYGene 6 днів тому

      I off set it so I could use deck screws to attach the deck to the stringers. Otherwise I would have to drill a lot of holes in the metal and use carriage bolts to secure the deck. You can do that, but this seems to make more sense. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.

    My dad was a cabinet maker-joiner, a very good one, true tradesman. I was going to use lemon oil on my Strat rosewood board neck. He told me lemon oil is for furniture, so it shines and smells nice. But for musical instruments, a 50/50 mixture of linseed oil and turpentine, is the way to go. This would have been 50 years ago. I'm still using that today, a few drops once a year, rub really well into the wood, wipe any excess away. Dispose of rags carefully, they can self combust.

    Inspiring to watch, I'm definately going to make myself one of these for sure. I would look into ways to be able to adjust your pickup height though, since that has such a huge impact on your electric guitar sound. Yours doesn't seem to need it for the neck pickup though, I love that natural reverb it's got. But I love what you've done, you've done an amazing job and you've inspired an aspiring guitarbuilder to follow in your footsteps!

    The shine and smoothness of the finish is really good

      I am so glad I tried the Tru-Oil. It has really held up well.

    I’ve watched this twice. It’s the best vid I’ve seen on building one. I wonder how it is now after all these years??

      It’s holding up great. It has a great sound and the finish still looks great.

    I wonder if the BA3959 is of similar quality? The one you show in this video is now priced at $170, while the 3959 model is priced at $150, and appears to be identical in specs.

      I would bet they are the same. I wonder if one comes with a light or maybe legs?

    Good try. I would have used instead of a hole on the top surface in the middle, a cut on the side. Look it up. That would have made your guitar sound better and very unique...

      I based it on the fender acoustisonic. I know they put a lot of research into it. But I would be curious to hear one with the cut on the side. Thanks for watching.
